About

Biography

Donal has recently transitioned into a less intense working life pattern having completed his 40th year of work in 2012. He is now based in the Besançon Area of France with many connections still in London. His latter years of full time work were occupied as the Design Manager for the University of Central Asia (Aga Khan Foundation) with the creation on three campuses in three Central Asian countries and designed by the renowned Japanese architect, Arata Isozaki.

Prior to this Donal worked in his own independant practice, Donal Carey and Company which was established in 1987 in Chelsea SW3. Before 1987, Donal worked for a number of well-established central London practices, in London and abroad.

It is a lighter version of the independant practice which Donal continues to keep going today, involving himself in projects where both the artistic, consultative and project managments sides of his work, together with his extensive experience will achieve end results that bring pleasure to him and his clients. The principles of his work are still very similar to those of the practice, to:

  • provide clients with an individual tailor made services for each project

  • listen and realise the desires of our clients

  • handle varying types of architectural work, from conception to completion of the work on site.

  • strive to work with our clients as a team, along with building contractors and the many specialists now involved in the built environment.
